About the Role 

The Anaesthetic Technician is responsible for clinical and technical assistance to the Anaesthetist during induction of, maintenance of and emergence from anaesthesia and to provide assistance and support to the theatre team.

This is a permanent, 1.0 FTE role to be worked on a rotating roster Monday-Friday in our dynamic theatre department. 

The successful applicant must have New Zealand Certificate of Proficiency in Anaesthesia Technology or equivalent and a Practising Certificate issued by the Medical Sciences Council. 

Specific duties include: 

  • Provide assistance to the Anaesthetist, in various surgical specialities.
  • Ensure the equipment and stocks required are maintained
  • Ensure continued education and personal development.
  • Safe and accurate knowledge in crisis management.

Skills and Experience:

  • At least 2 years’ experience 
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills 
  • Exceptional attention to detail 
  • Be competent in technical, measuring and computer skills
  • Enthusiasm and a proactive, flexible attitude.
