 About the Role 

Mercy hospital is looking for an Evening Support Services Assistant to join our dynamic and fast-paced Housekeeping team on a permanent basis.

This role is responsible for keeping the Mercy Campus hygienically and aesthetically clean, helping and supporting Mercy staff to ensure patients receive exceptional care. 

This is a permanent, part-time role offered at;

  • 20 hours per week
  • Monday – Friday, 6PM-10PM

Specific duties include:

  • To ensure optimum cleanliness, hygiene, and overall presentation standards are maintained to the highest level
  • To undertake routine cleaning duties - wet mopping, vacuuming and polishing of floors, dusting, cleaning toilet facilities
  • Be responsible for the collection, processing for disposal and transfer of hospital waste
  • Ensuring adequate supplies of cleaning and housekeeping provisions are available at all times
  • Assist with the safe and efficient provision of food and linen services to patients
  • Assist with the safe transport of patients

Skills and Experience:

  • Good planning skills with the ability to multitask 
  • Enthusiasm and a professional, flexible attitude
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently
  • Basic computer skills are desirable

The successful applicants will preferably have previous experience working in a similar cleaning/housekeeping role. Previous experience working in a hospital or in healthcare would be advantageous.  

To be eligible for employment at Mercy Hospital Dunedin, applicants must have received all COVID 19 vaccinations, or have an exemption from the Ministry of Health. Proof of this will be required and conditional to employment, as per the COVID-19 Public Health Response (Vaccinations) order 2021.
