About the Role 

The Occupational Therapist will be a new role and member of an established Allied Health team at Mercy Hospital. 

This role is responsible for providing safe and evidence based occupational therapy treatment and rehabilitation to patients following surgery. 

The successful person will be provided with the relevant OT support as required to ensure they are able to provide safe and effective treatment. 

This is a permanent, part-time role offered at 0.5FTE to be worked Tuesday to Friday with some flexibility required to ensure appropriate cover is provided when needed. 

New graduates are welcome to apply. 

Specific duties include: 

  • Facilitate appropriate and high quality management of inpatients and where appropriate patients in the community
  • Educate caregivers and family about the patient's therapy programme
  • Support safe effective and efficient discharge processes that maximises patient outcomes
  • Contribute to an inter-professional team for a ‘patient first ’approach.

Skills and Experience:

  • 2-3 years’ experience would be preferred 
  • Must be registered with the Occupational Therapy Board of New Zealand 
  • Possess a current Practising Certificate
  • Be evidence/best practice focused in service delivery
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills 
  • Enthusiasm and a proactive, flexible attitude.
